Description

I made this Torus glass sculpture at Pilchuck Glass School. I had been working with the geometry of the torus and wanted to create one in glass. This began by creating a multi-colored tile that was fused in the kiln. Then the tile was heated and rolled up into a cylinder. The end was sealed, and I blew the hot glass into a bubble. I then flattened it so I could puncture the center hole and seal it like a bagel or a lifesaver. Once it was removed from the pipe, it was annealed in the kiln overnight and taken to the cold working shop. There, I flattened the bottom and cut through the top color, exposing the color underneath. After the polishing work, it was completed and signed.
